Individual Dental Insurance
A nice smile can go a long way, but it doesn’t come cheap. Dental insurance is also an important part of a complete insurance plan.
We're pleased to now offer the Ameritas dental insurance plan. This is the same exact plan we offer to companies to cover their employees and is the plan we recommend without hesitation. We like it the best of all the options, but it is more expensive than the others because it is insurance, NOT just a discount plan...and we personally own it.

We now have more plans than any other site. We recommend FIRST looking at the Ameritas plan to see if it suits your needs (everything you need is in the downloadable brochure). If your state is not listed in the above brochure then download AMERITAS brochure 2 (click here).
Then take a look at the Careington plan. The Careington plan does have more than 8 million members. Finally if those two don't work for you check out our search engine which combines more than 30 plans in one place from companies like Aetna, Uni-care and many many more.. You can buy them online now. These can be cancelled at any time, so just try it you might like it. And, be sure to use dental plans coupon code Pickle. We're really big fans of the Aetna discount plan. With Aetna you get a really good caliber dentist AND you may find for the ~$100 per year cost coupled with the discounts that you'd spend less than if you paid the additional cost for the insurance .
Everyone always calls and asks "how much?" Well, the rates are in the Ameritas brochures, Of course it completely depends on where you live, so just take a peak in the brochure and it'll tell you .
You will see three (or four depending on where you live) different plans from Ameritas Dental Insurance in the brochure, but we recommend the "Access Plan." You can view the Ameritas dentists that accept the plan at www.AmeritasGroup.com (look under the "PPO-Nationwide" on that site). You won't find any information about this plan on that site though. That is in the brochure above. if your dentist isn't in the plan they may be willing to join. Be sure to tell them it's NOT a discount plan.
If your dentist isn't in the plan and you are unwilling to switch, then you should consider the "Progressive Plan." You can see ANY DENTIST with the Progressive Plan (it does not matter if the dentist says they don't accept this or any plan. If they're properly licensed then they don't have a choice) . You'll notice there are waiting periods for certain types of coverage and that's just to keep someone from getting the plan, getting a root canal and then canceling it. During the waiting period, however, you do still receive the network negotiated prices assuming you're using network doctors. So in essence the Access Plan works like a discount plan during the waiting periods until the insurance benefits kick in. Can't emphasize enough that this is the same plan we sell to companies for their employees....it's good stuff.
The difference between insurance and a discount plan is that discount plans take on no risk because they are not making any payment to you or the provider for services. They have negoatiated with certain dentists for lower rates for you. Insurance on the other hand shares your incurred expenses and does make a payment for covered services to the dentist. If you have a root canal that needs to be done...yesterday...sign up for the Ameritas plan and then also sign up for one of the discount plans above. Once full coverage kicks in on the Ameritas plan just discontinue the discount plan. If you're self-employed they're both tax-deductible anyway....right?
