CareFirst 2013 HSA Options
The IRS has increased the deductible requirements for qualified health plans to maintain eligibility for you to make HSA (Health Savings Account) contributions. The CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield BlueChoice HSA $1200 and BluePreferred HSA $1200 won't meet those requirements in 2013. If you are not making HSA contributions and have no desire to, then you don't need to make any changes.
However, if you want to make contributions to an HSA in 2013, you'll need to adjust the deductible of your plan. Below are you options to make a change without having to go through medical underwriting (meaning - you're not "reapplying" for coverage. You're just electing to increase your deductible).
Options for BluePreferred HSA $1200 Policyholders
You can switch to either the NEW $1400 deductible or the $2700 deductible. The $1400 deductible works like your current plan with the same 80% co-insurance. The $2700 deductible has 100% co-insurance after the deductible. Below are the brochure, rates, and forms you need to make the changes. Fax change forms to 410-796-7456.

Personal Comp HSA
If you have the Personal Comp $2500 HSA, you can also use the above change forms to switch your plan to the $2700 HSA. Keep in mind that for two or more people on the plan, it's a $5400 deductible. If you want maternity coverage on the BluePreferred, be sure to add it on the change form.
Options for BlueChoice HSA $1200 Policyholders
You can increase your BlueChoice deductible to $2700 or you can switch your plan to one of the new HealthyBlue Advantage HSA products. Your options are a $1500, $3000, $4000, or $5000 deductible. The brochures and rates are below. Once you decide, fill out the form and fax it in to 410-796-7456.
